Nemours Children’s Clinic*
*Previous Personal Experience of Stephen Reinel
The new Nemours Children’s Clinic is a 14,000sf outpatient center within a new Medical Office Building. The design of the new clinic was the result of a week-long planning session with the Nemours physicians, clinicians, and administrators to arrive at a concept plan that addressed their many needs.
The resulting plan has an open waiting area along the entire length of the space with pods of seating areas arranged at the entrances to the specialty care areas. There is a distinct separation of patient access to care areas and staff access. Each group of exam rooms, grouped by specialty, has a team room in their midst where physicians and clinicians can access them from within. The resulting separation of patient and staff flow improved Nemours’ ability to see patients in a timelier manner and reduce views into work spaces for a more pleasant patient experience and improved confidentiality.
Specialty exam rooms were designed for Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Mental Health, Audiology and Allergy. There are two X-ray rooms specially outfitted with Philips Medical Systems’ “Ambient” technology which enables the patient to set the scene within the room.
